From Revival at Wheaton!:

As with the other revivals, the testimonies and confessions followed a Spirit-ordained order... This time President Edman did not dismiss the meeting, but let it run all Wednesday night. At first fity to one-hundred students stood for hours waiting their turn at the microphone. Finally someone suggested that they sit in the "faculty" or "choir" seats behind the podium while waiting to testify. From top to bottom those waiting moved in snake-like fashion while they prayerfully anticipated speaking. In addition to the main meeting, faculty and staff also counseled and prayed with students in smaller rooms in Pierce Chapel...

The debate team was in a motel room in Florida on Wednesday evening and was totally unaware of events on campus. Bill Tompson, '50, "was engaged in his devotions, when suddenly he became overwhelmed with heart searching – he knew himself to be critical, hateful, saying things he shouldn't, conceited. He had to go at once and admit his falts to the other team members. This brought the whole debate team to their knees before God and making things right with each other. This was the pattern the awakening was taking in Pierce Chapel, 1000 miles away at the very same moment. What more convincing sign could come from the hand of God? The Chapel Choir, on tour in the South, had a similar experience, thus bringing revival to even the far-flung members of the community.
